Bianca Lopez Reflection Blog #2

Managing Projects and Managing Myself Becoming one of project managers for this class has been a very interesting experience for me so far. I truly didn’t know what kind of job I signed up. Now, I’ve realized that I have become a person for my classmates to run to whenever they need support and encouragement, I’ve had other students message me for help and guidance - being able to assist my classmates in a way that is caring and useful has been extremely rewarding. It truly pushes me to want to be more attentive towards my classmates and our assignments to ensure that their experience in this class is the best it can be. Project 2 was significantly less stressful than the first one. The first presentations we were assigned for this class felt like we were all scrambling like mice to get the projects ready and organized in time. But for this past project - me, my fellow project manager Erika, and my classmates had the luxury of having a little bit of flexibility when it came to time. ...

Happiness All Around Presentations Group 1: Economy & Potential Careers The topic of our presentation was about potential career and economy. These two topics as a group were able to dive deeper into how they work together. During my research it was interesting to see how Miami-Dade County divides the fields of balancing the economy into agriculture, film and entertainment, economic development, international business, and marketing partnerships. These different fields strive to ensure that the economy is well-balanced, but that these records are released to the public. Learning about how our county helps with potential careers in this fast-paced, but difficult process of job searching was important. As college students or graduated students, the possibilities of finding the “right job” is not as easy as they promote it or make it seem. But it is still important that the county provides equal opportunity to its people. During the research, their main motto was “Equal Opportuni...

Jalyssa Jean- Reflection 2

This past presentations really showed how much thought and effort everyone put into their topics. Our group 1 focused on Communication Perspectives within Potential Careers , and I think we were able to communicate some really important ideas that don’t always get talked about especially in terms of how self-awareness plays such a huge role in how we show up professionally. We broke down different types of communication: intrapersonal  those internal conversations we all have , interpersonal   the everyday exchanges with people we know , public communication , and mass communication . It was cool to see how these concepts apply not just in school but in actual careers whether you’re speaking to a room full of people or navigating a one-on-one conversation with a coworker or client. What I appreciated most was the conversation around self-perception . We talked about how people view themselves in two ways either independently  where traits are seen as consistent across sit...

Alux Toledo - Reflection on Presentation (Part 2)

Addictiveness to Happiness all summer round (By Alux Toledo) The other day, my fellow colleagues and I once again presented our slides pertaining to an assignment in class. The topics this time weren’t about chapters in a book but rather things in everyday life such as careers, education, and even mental health. I once again thought that these presentations were going to be boring, tedious, and overall mentally exhausting. While I do think that that isn’t the complete case, the fact was that there were some moments when I caught myself spacing out, not paying much attention, or just having my brain shut off. However the presentations were still interesting with engaging ideas and methods in their own regard, while still being relevant towards the presented subject in question. Please let me share my thoughts once again starting with… Group 1: Economy and Potential Careers This was the group that I was a part of, the topic we decided to choose was Economy and Potential careers and I did...

BLOG POST PRESENTATION REFLECTION #2

Blog post #2  By Michael Oliveros  Introduction    This blog is centered around the idea of mindfulness and the significance of being grounded in the moment. This post goes over 3 topics from each of the presentations, separated by name.  The main and only mental presentation  Theme 1: Time is not the enemy Weirdly, one of the most powerful messages in this…well, not all that powerful of a speech, was that time is misunderstood. We are in the past or the future, and in both cases, lose touch with the only time that really is — now. The person presenting stressed that the only way to fully live life is to live in the moment. This made me think of how often I find myself stuck in a loop of “what ifs” and “if only's,” rather than living with gratitude for the present. As a Business Major/ Business owner, I am sometimes forced to look into the future rather than looking at the now.  Subject 2: The Illusion of Control Another good point was the illusi...

reflections on project 2💭 Group 1- Subtopics economy and potential careers: After reviewing the presentations. The first person presenting, chose to talk about intrapersonal communication, she defined that Intrapersonal people often have interactions in their own minds like talking to themselves. and then she defined Interpersonal communication, it's when two person identifies with each other. she also described public communication as a person that is able to send messages to more people. and she added that Mass communication is when messages are delivered to a group of more than 20 people. she also decided to talk about independent self-perception and explained that it means based on beliefs and traits that a person has and that are internal to the person and are universally applicable to all situations. she also described that many individuals aim to demonstrate their abilities, characteristics, competencies, and personalities when interacting with others. the other topic she...

Reflection on Class Presentations:  Economy, Careers, and Mental Health. By: Guillermo Sauce          Recently, I was part of a group presentation about the economy and future careers. There were eight of us in the group, and my part was the agenda slide. I introduced the agenda and gave a quick summary of what each person was going to talk about. I actually liked doing this part because it helped set the stage for the rest of the presentation. It gave me a chance to explain the topics only and guide the class through what was coming next.        After I finished presenting the agenda, Erika Navarro took over with the introduction. But before getting into her part, she asked some questions to a few of our group members Alyssa, Michael, and Rebeca. I thought that was a really smart idea because it got everyone more engaged right from the start. They answered the questions really well, and it helped our group get off to a rea...
